Gaming Fix
Feb. 14th, 2010 12:36 pmEurogames yesterday was excellent; it's been awhile. Two new games to learn; Tobago, which is a treasure-hunting board game requiring one to constantly analyse what's going on on the board and how to respond - like chess only more twisted! The other game, Credo, is even more twisted. It's a subject that you'd think no one would ever make into a game, i.e. the machinations of the Council of Nicaea (sp?) where the early Christians argued their articles of faith, their firm beliefs and their practices. Players get to "convince" other players of these things and hammer them into agreement. It feels like it would be good practice for a career in government.
Since I picked out the points as close to pagan/heretical as possible, people tended not to agree with me very much. Somehow I won. This seemed to be because I hammered people a lot...
There was a good turnout. I don't think I've ever seen the game room that crowded! Gaming is tiring, for sure, but it's a hell of a good mental workout, even though I hadn't slept too well. This meant I wasn't terribly good at remembering everything I had to do in my turn, esp in new games. Sorry, guys. I piked out at 4pm, so that was about four hours gaming. Much more than that and serious mental fuzz begins to build up between the ears.
I'm hoping to organise a game of Illuminati next time or maybe at my house, if I can get people interested.
