Hoarder v minimalist
Jan. 2nd, 2023 06:29 pmSituation about the same but I'm getting some energy back after a second day not needing to go anywhere. Though I will tomorrow because of my eating habit; there's not a lot to eat here atm. I've managed to do some cleanup tasks at my place rather than M's and also some junk clearing. Being around M's place tends to trigger that impulse. M's apartment looks extremely classy and tidy until you open some cupboard doors and find papers that date back to the 1970s and earlier. Many, many papers. Before she moved in she had an impressive collection of plastic takeaway containers but I got rid of those. I have a feeling they've built up again somewhere....
Of course, the heat ratchets up again tomorrow with the end of the public holiday shutdown but I figure my head is already fried so no sense, no feeling. I have to talk to Shine Community Care who do M's home care and get that expanded; looks like they'll be able to do what's needed. This has been one of the most difficult holiday seasons I ever had. As M's friend George quoted to her, "You really don't want to get sick this time of year." Thanks, George!
Rereading Secrets in Death while I wait for the new one, Desperation in Death, to get here. I think I only read this once before. It begins with Lt Eve Dallas and Dr Garnet De Winter, the new medical examiner, having drinks and a discussion about how much they don't like each other. It's hilarious and all true. Then, of course, the dead body arrives but you get that. I love this stuff.
