The weekend so far does not completely suck.  Saturday was quite busy as I needed to deliver groceries over to M on my way to WABA [ Western Australian Boardgaming Association].  Fortunately M lives fairly close to WABA, i.e. a rideable distance.  After four months since her fall,  M is still not able to travel and/or carry stuff herself and though she's got a minion helping her three times a week, with one shopping trip a week, this isn't entirely satisfactory as the minion is quite obviously doing whatever is easiest, i.e. can't find small amount of loose green beans, will buy huge plastic bag of green beans that will go off before they can be eaten.

The proprietors of the nearest shop, an IGA, are out and out pirates, their prices being at least three to five dollars higher on everything than any other store in the city.  The retirement village next to it are a captive audience, though M tells me there will soon be a person living there with a car that's going to be sort of a private taxi, which will hopefully cut into the IGA's highwayman profits.

I didn't really pick the best day to show up at the club, as this was the Christmas gathering and hugely crowded.  The meeting at the other location, which usually takes place in two weeks time (I think?) won't be on this month because too close to Christmas, so this meeting had EVERYBODY.    I was there to pick up a packet of purple plastic trains, fallout from the last meeting which was a Ticket to Ride extravaganza.  No, I didn't win them, they were very kindly passed on to me by Leece, who knew I was hanging out for my very own purple trains.  Yes, I know that's weird;  so sue me.

I also participated in a game subtitled The Mayan Calendar, whose actual name is now lost to me.  Sounded like Tolkein with a Z.   Beautiful looking board, very detailed, quite complicated.  I got wiped off it, as I'm not quick to pick up new games, though I do play them in an effort to save my brain from crumbling into dust.  Also it was quite intriguing when one got into it.  I think we were playing for around three hours, but three of us had never played before.

By the time I got home (bike and train)  I'd done quite a bit of riding which will make Dr K happy when I see her next week. ["You've got all that testosterone, do something with it!"]  The recent stresses have had their effect and I've used up most of my remaining stock of antidepressants.  I'm not going to be able to go off it, not completely, not until things ease.  Dr K thinks my brain just can't absorb some chemicals it needs to and I haven't quite given up hope of someday not needing to take anything.   But that's what I need to discuss with her.

I've signed up with Prime Video to test-drive them for a month, because they have all three seasons so far of The Man in the High Castle, which is brilliant and chilling and sucks you in so you don't notice you've binged three episodes and should really go to bed because it's now morning.   They also have Good Omens and American Gods, so I might even stay with them for awhile if I can afford.  But seriously, even if money is short, which it will be, I've got to have some sort of entertainment.  There's not much more I have to go out and do before the end of year shutdown, which will take some of the pressure off.

I will then be able to work on some of my other stories and finally put some of them up on the Creative Fictions site.  I know, I keep promising.  Then stuff happens.

After quite a long time of passing well, it's been disconcerting to get misgendered of late by various people in quick succession;  around work and outside work.  It happens mostly with people who already know me, but not always, and I never know what to do about it, so I just pretend it didn't happen.   M continues to do it without even noticing if there's anyone else with us or she's talking on the phone in my presence.  So I guess it's probably not ever going to get any better than it is now.

I'm just concentrating on doing what I have to, getting to the end of the year and organising my move.  Then I'll think about what comes next!  I've noticed a few friending memes on DW recently and have been thinking about participating in those.  Be good to have a few new journals/faces here.
