Swancon in 2018

I thought I had things set up in Wordpress to automatically post here but it's not doing it.  I'll put this in manually and then mess around with it, because if I do it the other way around, I'll never get around to posting.

During Easter, I will be spending some time here:

As my main social event of the year, I have to plan this carefully!  This year I’ll be staying in the con hotel, the Pan Pacific, in the interests of convenience and access to their swimming pool.  Also, these years I find just being at a con exhausting – people, you know – so that’s why I have a room.  It’s not the partying all night;  it’s the having somewhere to nap during the day

I may not get there on the Thursday, but intend to show up probably Friday afternoon to get settled in, then will be in residence until the Monday morning, except for about two trips home to feed and apologise to Fergus and Ridley,  my rats.  I am your servant for the rest of the time, guys, you don’t have it that hard.

I see there’s a cheap day (Friday is $10) so that’s a heads up to any friends who have not attended Swancon and would like to test the waters, so to speak.  The first sample is (almost) free!

This is Swancon 43, i.e. the number refers to years it’s been running, and I first attended Swancon 6 in 1981.  So it’s perhaps understandable that although I angst about it, I really can’t think of anywhere else to be over Easter, or indeed where I would want to be.  So much has changed, me included, but the event itself is constant; the gathering of the tribe.  Going to try to take things at a relaxed pace this time and see if that helps.
