We get teased by the racing bikes

I rode Rocket to work on Friday. Well, sort of. I hadn't left him plugged in long enough, so he wasn't fully charged and conked not far into the ride. An electric bike without power is like pushing a loaded shopping trolley, so had to admit defeat and take the train for the rest of the way. Meant to get out at McIver but couldn't reach the doors thanks to the crush heading for the Royal Show. [One reason I'd decided to ride in the first place!] I travel just after peak time when bikes are allowed and there is usually not a crowd.
At Perth station there's a lift for those who can't use the escalators. Guy in powered wheelchair wants the lift and wheelchair trumps bike. Comedy of errors as I realised Rocket was too bulky to fit in the lift with the chair and tried to get out of the way of a person with a racing bike. Door slammed shut too fast. We waited for the lift's return and this time I held the button so we could hopefully both get on. Door slams shut. We are feeling distinctly unwanted by this time as lift travels upwards empty. And down, whereupon I drag Rocket into it at full speed, followed by racing bike. Racing bikes are sometimes rude to Rocket but this one was quite friendly!
All in all, more exercise than usual. Rocket charged up while I was at work and I'm sure the power would have lasted us home had I not become confused as to where the bike path started when you approach from McIver station. Did a bit of circling before I managed to follow another bike over Claisebrook overpass and on to the path, where we got almost to Ashfield, the station before mine, where Rocket conked again. Not too bad, managed to adjust gears so Rocket was at least rideable and thus got more exercise than had intended.
Enough endorphins were stirred up that the work day wasn't too bad, though I felt very stiff having to stay there and type for that long, after having a few days off. In our building there is a shower, part of a palatial bathroom on the sixth floor which seemingly no one uses, as it is gorgeous. On Friday the clothes thing isn't a problem as it's casual, but I'm not sure a regular work shirt and pants will emerge wearable from the backpack. Going to try it and see if anyone notices. It'll save me $6.60 for each day I do it and I really need to find more ways to save $!
