Since I'm not in London, I'm going to the open programming meeting at the Fenians pub later today. I do admit lingering regrets that I'm not in London; seeing all the Worldcon news and pictures on Facebook...your time will come, folks...but it wasn't to be.

I had a holiday overseas last year, the gulag where I work has a lot more pits to dig this year, it seems, and also I have a cageful of three elderly rodents and a young rat who has an apparent congenital defect that's having some quite awful effects. So far his brother seems okay, but that's the only good news from that quarter.

I'm still trying to sort out a health fund for myself that's going to give me what I need without skinning me alive first. It's an interesting exercise. I find I'm not depressed while I'm trying to sort out something complicated. Frustrated, yeah, but determined to find my way through the morass. Doing my tax online has the same effect.

In other news, I've changed my hair. [livejournal.com profile] leecetheartist, next time you see me, you're looking for someone who's pale yellow on top. I completely forgot about the don't-wash-hair-for-three-days-before-bleaching, but it didn't bother me any more than last time, which was not at all. There's got to be something in the "no sense, no feeling" adage. I must have upped work's expectations after going purple last Easter; they have now requested stripes.

The open programming meeting went well, I think. Everyone had a pad of paper in front of 'em as a gentle hint that we were supposed to come up with ideas! Had one, wrote it down. Listened to all the other ideas until they ran out.

The city centre is fairly busy; may be the unseasonally warm weather. This was useful, as due to the sudden appearance of Live Music in the pub, we needed to sit outside so that we could hear one another. I managed to buy a work shirt on the way through and to catch up with a few folk, so time well spent. I'm a bit fatigued now - being around a bunch of people does that to me, rather like a micro-convention - but am once more looking forward to Swancon next year.
