Caught up on my sleep halfway through the morning, which is why almost my first move was to go vote to get that out of the way. The polling area was having a quiet spell, so got in and out in a couple of minutes, didn't even need the book. Passed the next crowd on their way in and then spotted
stephen_dedman along the road, headed for leaflet duty.
Got a pile of laundry done, vacuuming etc, including removal of mouse crap from the various places they put it, then had to contemplate going out again as I had no rat (kitty) litter. This necessitated a ride to Guildford to get a new bike lock, since my old one (I'm trying to think, it must be about 25 yrs old) had fallen apart. Shop was shut, but fortunately owner was still outside, and he kindly opened up again and sold me a bike lock said to be able to withstand really determined attempts to steal one's bike. Discovered new bike lock was going to need tools (sharp scissors) to open, so wheeled Rocket the e-bike into the shopping centre where I could keep an eye on it while I got the rat litter. Forgiveness easier than permission and anyhow, security might not see me. Sweating heaps by then, since riding to Guildford seems to require a lot of standing in the sun to cross roads. Voice hails me in the shopping centre and there's my boss, in t-shirt and thongs mode. I got in and out of Coles without being spotted by centre security.
Managed to ride home with sack of rat litter ocky-strapped to the bike rack and have now dumped quite a bit of water on me and down me, plus a bottle of Coke which I decided was also a necessity of the day. It's now past 4 pm. Tonight there will be ironing and rat room service or maybe just rat room service. I was slathered in sun block but I think it got me anyway.
