The fascinating subject of viruses
Sep. 17th, 2012 04:12 pmThat 3-hour nap this morning has helped me feel better. Not altogether all right, from experience that'll take awhile, but good enough to get to work tomorrow. Work *sounded* happy to hear that - first time ever reporting progress of sickness via mobile phone text message - so I'll be going in tomorrow. Even the office is going to look good after being stuck here, apart from quick food raids.
I'm chugging the orange juice and stocked up on fruit, so hopefully that's helping. I've finally got hold of my rat minder and he's dropping around tonight. I need to be sure he's ok with minding rats some of whom aren't well, as well as demonstrating care of Cedric. When I feed Cedric and his housemates, I haul Cedric out of wherever he is and plop him in front of the food bowl. If this doesn't happen, the young rats would vacuum it all down before he got a bite, but this way, he has attitude enough to make sure he gets some. So the feeder person has got to ignore Cedric's "Leave me alone!" complaints, which stop the second he realises dinner is there. Older rats also get baby food supplements, even if said food, when squeezed out of its tubes, looks rather as though it has been through the rat already.
Human food expenses have skyrocketed while I've been sick. I've been noticing it costing more anyway, but seems when I get sick, the comfort foods are the most expensive. I've been buying orange juice, which I don't usually, and also weakened and bought icecream. Extra tins of soup and ready-to-eat meals also bump up the cost of this week's shop. It feels as though my budget filter disappears when I walk into the store fuzzed and unwell. See icecream, grab icecream....
I had the flu innoculation earlier this year, so I'm not sure what this is. I guess 'bad cold' still covers it, though I'm not used to being sick for this long or actually being knocked off my feet by the bug. My mum was sick for two weeks with something that sounded a lot like what I have.
