I went to lunch with my publisher today. :-) I really like saying that. Alisa, otherwise known as
girliejones, needed to give me my Aurealis Award that I won last time for one of the stories in my Nightsiders collection, so we went to The Merchants for coffee and pie and had a great time talking about books and publishing and the horrors of clothes shopping.
We also talked about me doing a column, i.e. regular public posts, so I'm going to start doing that. I'm not sure where would be the best place to put them; haven't seen anyone new in Live Journal for awhile, ditto for DreamWidth. Of course, if one locks all one's posts, that doesn't help, I suppose. I plan to discuss zombie apocalypse fiction, which I have been delving into since I got Kindle, and its contribution to the end-of-the-world subgenre. Or something like that. Literary stuff.
After that, I got a haircut and did actually locate a pair of pants for work. I feel rather cast adrift right now, since I used to do all my shopping for work clobber at Fletcher Jones. They would look after the fashion-challenged (me) and I miss them sorely since they went down the gurgler. If I wander at large through the stores, my brain freezes and I become unable to make any decisions, so the only thing was to find another brand I could live with, get their loyalty card and settle in. I have now done this. Of course, left to own devices, I'd have jeans, t-shirts, hoodies and coat and leave it at that.
I'm also supposed to do some writing.
