That hurt too. . .
Jun. 11th, 2011 01:19 pm. . .in the wallet!
Last week my vacuum cleaner died. I'd call it a minor explosion, actually; resulting in those wisps of smoke that are never a good sign. It had made it through most of a decade with me, so wasn't too bad. The replacement also cost less than the first one had, thanks to the place having a major sale on right now. Even so, hadn't expected to part with almost $200 in one chunk.
I'd arranged to go plant shopping this weekend anyway (with friend with car), so decided to go ahead. I wanted some grevilleas for my front yard's bald spots. One bald spot happened when an umbrella tree died and had to be cut up and taken away. So it had to be something tough. This grevillea grows yellow flowers and will grow to 3 X 2 metres. I also got a pair of smaller grevilleas to go in nearby and a Hairy, otherwise known as a small native shrub with red flowers called an erica something. If anyone is desperate to know the actual names, I'll go look 'em up on the little cards tied to the plants.
Now I'm back to the baked beans for the foreseeable future. Looks like I won't be able to get the electric bike for awhile, things just keep on cropping up. I may have to wait until after tax time.
