Hot evening

Cooling down at last, barely. The rats are settling down after dinner. It's actually warmer now for them because they have the aircon during the day (and see no reason why I shouldn't run it for them all night).

My morale's been rather low for awhile but don't worry, I'm not going to walk into traffic just yet. About now it sinks in that the main holiday time is over and the work slog is building up, with the courts awake and trying to get through their massive workload. I could tell towards the end of last year it would be bad, because the Federal Court set some sitting dates in January, which is unusual. The Family Court slowed down a little but not much - most of our work in January came from them, even during the period when our head office was dark and silent and surrounded by water [central Brisbane].

I haven't managed to do much in the way of writing, except preparing the stuff for Nightsiders, my collection/book due to come out some time before Swancon. That was pretty much done before I went on holiday, so not much to report since then. Must Do Better.

I'm going to deny this when midwinter arrives, but I've actually had enough of summer for now!
