A local one-day convention
May. 2nd, 2010 09:04 pm*Yawn, tired!*
I went to a one-day convention at the KSP Writers Centre today. This was made up of seven hours of panels and chatting to folk I usually only see online, plus the Centre's extremely gregarious yellow cat, whom I'm told was probably Burmese, explaining the peculiar bubbling purr she emitted.
I sometimes find long conventions too much these days; just get way too tired from all the sociability and activity after day one and then can't catch up on enough rest on the next day etc. This one was just right as to length and also specialist, as it aimed at writers and wannabees rather than the wider spectrum at Swancon etc. I was on one panel about Writers Block and painting characters into a corner, about which I was quite nervous but it seemed to go well. I'm going to post the text of my notes, tidied up, in here once I'm properly awake.
This has been an unusually busy weekend all up. I didn't sleep well on Friday night - it was the voices in my head arguing with me again - so was somewhat zombified on Saturday, when I had to get up early to take two of my rat boys to the vet, along with my friend Lena, who was taking three of hers. Some sleep was gotten later in the day, aside from house jobs, and then it was on the go all day at the writercon. It seems altogether wrong to have to get up early AGAIN tomorrow to go to work!
*back in my box now*
