The Common Cold Strikes
May. 28th, 2008 01:28 pmI've been diseased since Sunday evening; only starting to recover now. Not the flu, since no notable rise in temp and no headache to speak of, just sneezing, congestion, fuddleness, mild sore throat and yech feelings. If anyone's expecting me to do anything at all, it'll have to wait while I work through this. And
chaosmanor, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. I haven't forgotten and you've a belated gift coming along as soon as I can stay on my feet long enough to leave the house!
This was not expected; groan. I could have infected my whole family - saw the lot of 'em earlier on Sunday, though was not sneezing then and had no idea, thought I was just tired. Guess I'll find out soon whether I did or not but I really wish I'd had more symptoms on Sunday so I could've known to stay away. My mother will certainly let me know. Annoying as she is, I wouldn't knowingly have taken infection near a 77-year-old or my nearly 3-year-old nephew either. Sheesh.
When I'm okay, though, I have this idea for an article I want to write on the popular theme of a world without adults and kids having to deal with apocalyptic events on their own. This probably results from reading Andrew Butcher's Time of the Reaper and its sequels and also watching Red Dawn while I've been sick. Add previous reading of John Marsden's Tomorrow series and watching of the tv series Jeremiah and one has more than enough material to kick off with. I still think Marsden's Ellie Linton could kick the behinds of the rest, which have a rather boys-adventure tone to them. I should've been warned with Red Dawn when the boys piss in the radiator of their truck because they don't have any water. True class. Would it really work, though?
