Hot. Sunday. Perth sleeps.
I'm probably bored enough to go out anyway. I need to buy a new foot-pump for my bicycle, having come to the conclusion that the reason I can't inflate a tyre is that most of the air was escaping from the current pump. Also that the top fell off the pump last time I tried, which is probably a warning to the wise.
I lost a promising watermelon plant yesterday just from the heat. It had been watered the previous night but just shrivelled. That'll give non-locals an idea of what it's like here at the moment.
Since Perth sits below an ozone-layer hole, I have to plaster up with sunscreen, wear hat and sunglasses and STILL avoid sun where I can. I'm sure people entering a radioactive zone have no more preparation to do!

Books read for January: A reread of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials which I include even though I don't usually mention rereads because it's only the third go through. Those books are so rich in detail that there's always something new to find. Other books were Extras by Scott Westerfeld, Empire of Ivory by Naomi Novik, To Reign in Hell by Greg Cox, Clan Corporate by Charles Stross, The Last Colony by John Scalzi, Strangers in Death by J.D. Robb and Smoke and Shadows by Tanya Huff.

Perhaps the all-wise flist would like to suggest something for me to tackle next?

Going out soon, so if you're wanting the aviary today, [livejournal.com profile] agoodliedown, probably closer to evening would be a more comfortable time to get it unless that thunderstorm miraculously arrives. Else we can organise it at gaming.

I had a scary dream last night where the Federal Police interrogated me over a home loan I didn't realise I had and made me read an ancient fanfic I'd written into the record. Go figure. My entire family were there listening as well.
