May. 3rd, 2007 11:17 amBill Heffernan should be dabbed with honey and staked out for the ants.
That's my political comment for the week.
For non-Australians, this politician just stated in public that the deputy leader of the Opposition could not be a leader because she deliberately did not have children. "Deliberately barren" were his words. He was made to apologise but the apology definitely looked forced and insincere.
Make that rotten meat and staked out for the vultures.
Update on my precious little furry beasties, whose welfare has pretty well kept me busy the last couple of days. Jonas had his tumour removed on Monday and is now recovering well, though wondering why he can't go home with the others. He's not bothering his stitches, thank God, but his brothers might well help him out. He's been sleeping on my bed for two nights but I put the hospital cage back in the living room last night, now I'm sure I don't have to keep checking on him through the night.
Henry, his brother who also has a lump, is now on a new antibiotic, a last try to clear his chest of congestion so that he too can have surgery. Right now, well, he's lucky that tumour is less advanced than Jonas' was. Nikita, my little rat who was having the panic attacks, seems to have stopped doing that. I'm not sure what did it but dietary deficiencies are among the possible causes and Nikita was very skinny and dehydrated when I got him.
So the next month will be spent trying to get Henry in shape for surgery and then the vet and I make the decision about whether to risk it.
