Rain at last
Apr. 15th, 2007 04:12 pmMorale is supposed to improve with sunshine, go down with grey skies and rain - but I think it's reversed in times of drought!
Today it was sufficiently grey that I decided I had to pull my finger out and get those seedlings for the vege garden with no more delay. I got punnets of tomatoes, broccoli, spinach and sweet peas, since they didn't have any broad beans to make up a fourth punnet. [discount for buying four]. Got them home, put them in the already-prepared patch, barely before the rain began to fall. And fall. and fall! At the moment my yard is a series of lakes, since it has received almost no water except for grey water when I have the energy to carry it out from the washing machine, so there wasn't much difference between the earth and the paved courtyard area.
I was really pleased that the seedlings would be getting rain right away but now I'm hoping they aren't washed away. I think, finally, the plants will have enough water and the soil may be saturated enough for the nasturtiums to return and perhaps those potatoes I planted weeks ago to emerge.
Not sure how widespread this rainfall is, hopefully the farming regions of WA got some . . . and that the idiots of the cities think that maybe the sprinklers don't need to go on even if this is their watering day!
*dance, splash, eek*
