My 26th Swancon is over
Mar. 6th, 2006 10:42 amSwancon is over, at least for me because I couldn’t afford to go again today. I have a somewhat peculiar earning structure in that January is nearly always a downtime month. I transcribe court hearings, insurance interviews, police interviews etc and most of that stuff slows down to a trickle during that month. So I take the month off – for my own sanity, really – try to do a bit of writing and generally slack off. For this no one pays me :-(
Financial recovery doesn’t begin to happen until well through February, since I don’t get paid till two weeks after I return to work and this early in March, it just hasn’t happened yet. So I decided that I could afford one, perhaps two days at the con though the daily rate seemed rather high. These days, I find the continual pressure of people and conversations which are often very repetitive to be something of a strain, especially when I don’t have a hotel room to which to retreat for a rest. Thanks to
chaosmanor and
stephen_dedman for the cups of tea!( Read more... )
