Normality has not yet been achieved!

It's hard to know how to help when a friend's in trouble, not the sort where there's any kind of easy fix, more somebody declaring that her life is in the toilet and nothing works. Not that I was asked to do anything practical, just to be a ranting post which I was glad to do. I just wish I *could* think of something useful. One of the things was her garden looks like a junkyard which is pretty well correct and that I can help with, soon as the heat drops a bit. The rest, especially the bits about her husband, well - definitely not qualified to comment there - though she may be right that he is developing advanced "Old Fartism."

Personally I'm doing okay at the moment, though there's now a serious need for work to get back to what it's pleased to call normal. About this time I always get really tired of never knowing if/when I'll be working and what if anything will be in the pay packet. Last one had one day's pay in it. Next one will be mostly normal as the courts ramp up for another year's litigation.

I still took myself out today for a therapeutic dose of Bacon Deluxe Meal, not actually realising it was 40^C outside. That burger was worth it! Also gave the library back some of their property. I don't generally have quite that many books out at once and it was probably time they went home. The library's new habit of slipping in a strip of paper with the date due back, rather than stamping the book, can leave me a little vague on that subject.

I've got a whole bunch of rodents here again, the usual suspects from the Rodent Sleepover Club minus Poo the manx mouse, who sadly died, though he seemed to be quite old for a mouse. Also missing are the girls, taken along to Collie this time around. Two are due to be euthanased; quite a sad time. One of these rats has two huge tumours and though she's been managing well for quite a while, this is so no longer. I don't know the problem with the other rat.

My friend and I both have new baby rats, though I got mine about two weeks ago now. Lena's look TINY in comparison, though they are only a fortnight younger (6 weeks) and all albinos. I suggested she name them Alfred, Albert and Alvin, so she can just call out "Al!" when she can't work out who's who. I don't think she'll go for that. Mine are two agouti hoodeds and one chestnut hooded. The latter is named Oliver and the others are Magnus and Charles Wallace. I always wanted to name a little rat Charles Wallace and finally I have one the name suits!

We're having a special Casual Day at work tomorrow as a fundraiser for the Victorian fires. I also intend to donate to Wildlife Victoria when I can; see above for the money hassles! Hard times, more than just a cliche right now.

Hang in there.

Sometimes helping order a bit of someone's chaotic/toilet life helps them no end. When my life was in the toilet this time last year, having all my books back on the bookshelves helped. A small thing, but comforting.
So yes, the garden thing sounds like a good idea.

Hurray for the new babies!
