Does it spark joy?

On my bucket list, or at least my while I'm on leave list, was helping my mother [90] sort through cupboards.  She's been on me about this for at least two years.  For some reason it needs to get done before her demise.  Second day doing this (not in a row) and I'm drained.  How do Marie Kondo and others do it?  You're fighting with the hoarder over each apparently vital item of junk.  M also decided it was my idea in the first place.  Uh.  NO.  Not my idea of a good time.  I did try the "If it doesn't spark  joy, get rid of it,"  approach and got the hairy eyeball in response!

This week everything happened.  Genghiscon on the 16th.   Visit to Boola Bardip [Many Stories] Museum on the 19th.    Therapy session and actual in person gaming session on the 20th.   At therapy, I told him since I was on leave, I was basically able to cope atm but bits would start falling off when I was back at work.

Then today, the abovementioned clearing out session.  [Leece, I have some drawing pencils for you if interested.  I think at one time M may have done an art course.  Or maybe thought about it.]  Since it meant I didn’t get any work done, i.e. writing, that’s on the cards for next week, with the goal to try and finish at least the framework for Current Thing, as it’s a lot easier to fill in the gaps when you basically know where you’re headed.

I also want to go to at least a couple of the Fringe Festival items, as much as I can afford.  There’s A Cult For You, where Father Hooroo holds forth on what it’s like to join a cult, without losing your earthly belongings.  Also Dr Ahmed Gets Hitched – same sex Greek/Pakistani wedding described as the BAFTAS meet Bollywood.  And Circus-cision (I’m putting the name from memory as I can’t see that one right now] which has been recommended.  Includes a nude performance of the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies, I’m assured.  So as you can see, I’m going to spend some time being cultured.

I think cleaning out junk is a lot more interesting if you do it for a stranger. But I agree that it's super exhausting when the person doesn't even want to go rid of stuff or has no idea what is important and what is junk. Or how much time one should spend deciding...
