Up until now, no one I knew had been more than inconvenienced by COVID-19.  As of yesterday, that's no longer the case.  I've learned that Karen Babcock,  whom I knew through the boardgaming community, has died of this plague.  We didn't know each other well, but certainly interacted at conventions and across game boards, including at the Helsinki Worldcon in '17.

This is a sad time.  

It makes my own dissatisfactions and hassles seem quite insignificant.

I heard on Friday. I didn't know her well either, but had also chatted to her a few times at conventions around Australia and internationally. Such an awful loss.
