planet bored

This is day 11 of a sugar detox. Or at least, if I've been eating any sugar, it's either in fruit or I'm not aware of it. There's possibly some in the margarine and the Vitaweat crackers, though both are supposed to be on the low end. And cheese. Must check the low fat milk also. Note: diets make you paranoid.

Last Wednesday I had a doctor's appointment and got told of high cholesterol/blood sugar readings, so immediately took steps to take care of this. I haven't done as much more exercise as I'd like, mostly because it's been cold, wet and depressing and I've wanted to hide from all those things. I don't plan to keep this totally no sugar thing up forever. I might live longer but I don't think I would enjoy it. I get blood tested again in a few weeks and if that's clear, I get cleared for a new hormone medication. If I can afford it. I'm still trying to work that one out.

So I can't use artificial means to raise my mood, such as Ben and Jerry's icecream. Or chocolate. Neither of those things exists on my planet. Today I'm feeling bleh for a routine but annoying reason and also because the weather is cold and windy and I would like this to stop. I've been messing around online and writing bits of a fanfic or wandering around the garden. The rats are asleep.

Yesterday I bought some new dumbbells. I consider getting them home to constitute the day's weightlifting exercise.

A fairly heavy week lies ahead, then two days of the next week and then I am on leave for five days. I expect no visitors here and the usual mind-numbing interactions with co workers at work.

Rob has repaired my me-mover, I'll test it tomorrow, and maybe we can then make plans for meeting at the river.

Sounds good, even if those things do still look like a cross between gym equip and a torture device.

I'll improve.

Got cursed for the first time in more than three months, when I thought it was all over, and have spent the weekend mostly feeling too crappy to do things I wanted, like get new tomato plants.

Going to go binge on some more of The West Wing. Have you seen it? It's fantastic.
Every ep has great lines, such as the one where the President's aide is trying to wake him up at some horribly early time and saying in soothing tones, "It's not a nightmare, you really are the President."

No sugar? Eek! I have cut down the amount of sugar I consume a lot but there are still times when I give in to the sugar cravings and buy myself a little packet of lollies from those charity things that are on most reception desks at the hospital (except mine!) maybe slowly introduce some Ben and Jerry's when you really need it :)

It's getting nicer over here (I say that but there's 20-40mm rain forecast for tomorrow) it sounds like you and I will both benefit from the Spring weather.

I would visit you if I lived closer :) I used to! Well, maybe. I used to live in Queens Park and then Cloverdale. Certainly a lot closer than I am now in a completely different state!
