Marrying Mr Darcy on my day off

IMG_20140817_151128

Greetings to those who have just joined this blog from [livejournal.com profile] ecosopher's friending frenzy. This is what I look like at the moment, as of two weeks ago when I got blonded. To the humorists, yes, I am the one without the beard. The middle beard belongs to [livejournal.com profile] stephen_dedman who agreed to be photobombed, and the other person is a Swancon committee person whose name has left me.

There have been requests for rat pictures and oddly enough, I have a great many rat pictures. Here's one I took of my rat Gil last night, while he snoozed on my lap, on his back with his hind feet in the air and a normal one of him just climbed out of bed. He's looked ruffled up like that all his life. There was no way to improve the light in the "ghostly sleeper" picture without disturbing Gil, but I thought the effect was rather interesting. Gil is about two years, seven months old and one of the most cuddly rats I've ever had. Not sure it's me, though; once when I was not wearing the beloved dressing gown, he climbed the back of the chair where I had thrown it and sat on top, evidently waiting for me to assume the position and put it on for his comfort.

Today I was off work, always a good thing, and went to town to visit Tactics games shop and have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] leecetheartist. No, Zombreros was definitely not like Marias in Santa Fe, but unfortunately, there is only one Maria's. Good news is I have ordered the card game Marrying Mr Darcy - it arrived in Australia while the Tactics games shop guy was on the phone to a supplier, honest-to-Gods, and we should be able to play it in two to three weeks! Even though I am a diehard zombie fan, I'm not sure about the undead supplement you can also buy for the game.

Oh, cute! Gil looks just like my cat Midnight when she's sprawled on my lap at night, snoring. :-)

Yes, it's usual cat behaviour, but fairly unusual for a rat outside of his cage. You only get it where there's a high trust level. None of my other rats do it; but they'll usually come over to let me know they want a snack.

I guess one of our cats could be a rat and one your rats apparently could be a cat. :-)

It's so rewarding though when they finally show the trust that they let you rub their belly. Awesome!

Hello! It's good to put a face to a name. I like the blonde!

It's awesome that Gil is so comfortable with you. He looks so sweet!

I like the hair! (Always nice to figure out what color you should have had, but that nature forgot about, & get that corrected.) Also, very good to see the rats again. Cuddly pets are always welcome . . .

Also, you're right -- there IS only one Maria's. And you didn't even have one of their margaritas . . . though it might have been just as well, given the altitude issue.

Well, some of us are not used to living 7000 feet up a mountain or whatever it was! I'm a cheap drunk at any altitude, trust me.
