Whose idea was that?

Today's meant to be the International Day of Happiness. Hm. I'd have to say I have other plans. At least Coconut seems to be recovering okay. Having a rat go under anaesthetic is always scary; they're so small and it's dangerous for even a healthy rat.

Must find some way to get out this weekend, at least on one day. I'm getting stir crazy. Work is more stressful because it's piling up, so the people who allocate work on to us tend to share the favour. Guys, it doesn't matter how bloody urgent it is, so is the assignment you gave me ten minutes ago. I have been unable to mutate extra limbs and teach them how to type.

Supervisor's partner came to pick her up last Monday, also bringing their five-month-old Siamese kitten draped nonchalantly around his shoulders. Eric (the kitten) seemed to accept the general adoration and cuddling as simply his due. Not really that friendly, more like a pop star with the fans. I'll try to get a picture of him some time. He's extremely aristocratic with brilliant blue eyes. I had to write "includes time spent admiring Eric" on my sheet to explain my less than stellar speed.

I'd like one of those, but the rats have vetoed the request.

Good for the rats! Siamese, though elegant art forms, are the espresso of cats. Cat squared, if you will. Glad Coconut is on the mend!

I've let her return to the main cage since she was recovered enough to be miserable in the small one. She ran about making sure everything was where she left it and began a new nest. This is resting quietly as per doctor's orders. Fortunately her incision is where she can't easily reach it by scratching and the boys have settled down for the day, so I doubt they'll bother her.

The rats think they own the place!

I'm so glad to hear Coconut is on the mend.

Well, it's fair enough in this instance; if there was a Siamese cat here, they would get eaten. Yes, Coconut is doing well and fur is beginning to grow back, though it'll be awhile before it heals up. She's now back with her harem of clueless male rats.
