Coconut is fine

My little rat Coconut had surgery today to remove a tumour on her back. She did very well and is now resting in the hospital cage. She'll be isolated until she's healed enough to go back with her cellmates. Subi vet also very generous about the fee. I had no problem with that at all.

I've travelled twice between Bassendean and Subiaco today and it's a warm one. Coconut had a lump of ice next to her carry cage in my pack as mobile aircon. Doesn't matter if the human cops the sun and exercise!

Tumours are a damn nuisance. Our Prankster has just gotten out of surgery as well, and she's developing another one!

I sincerely hope Coconut doesn't develop another, though sorry to hear about Prankster.

May I ask; is this a mammary tumour? Coconut's isn't; she's spayed. Also I figure on her back is about the only spot she wouldn't get one of those.

Yes, it is a mammary tumour.

I did wonder about the location!

I know on a female rat, her entire underside is included (not fair!) I'm hoping this will mean Coconut's won't recur, though the vets have said it could still happen. She's 25 months old.

I'm so glad it went OK. And I love the thought of a lump of ice as aircon!
