Coconut update

Coconut went back to the vet for her assessment today and Dr Coleman has okayed her to have the tumour on her back removed. She's still a bit noisy but it's not in her lungs and her heart is fine. So electronic hand-holding necessary next Wednesday. I'm not at work that day, which is why I picked it; from past experience I know I won't be any use to the gulag until I know she is all right. They don't do surgery on the weekends so that's the best day I can get.

The lump on her back has definitely grown and the vet says removal recommended sooner rather than later. Also the compliments are still coming. "That's a fat rat" from the vet, whereupon I explained the concept of the fluffy fund. Now Dr Coleman thinks I am demented.

That extra layer of flab on your rat which, when he or she becomes ill, acts as insurance, since a sick rat doesn't eat much.
