Aw, you shouldn't have . . .

I plan to write more about my trip soon, promise (or threat). I keep rendering myself exhausted and needing to recover; no doubt a sign of increasing age. If I EVER do international travel again, breaking the journey will be a necessity. It seemed too complicated last time, but I can't handle 30 hours travelling any more. This latest weariness was purely local.

Going back to work was tiring. Also was needing to rush my rat Charles to the vet Monday morning with cardiac failure. He's now on medication and managing, though very short of breath. This meant I had to get him to the vet, home, THEN get to work and remember everything after three weeks absence. Fortunately I was able to put the time down as sick leave (includes personal leave, care of loved one who is ill etc). And yes, they do know that Charles is a rat.

Yesterday was my birthday, which I never regard particularly well. Other than remembrances from family members was a letter from the Government. Upon opening, I found that I had been invited to join the National Bowel Cancer screening program, now being offered free to those about to turn 50 (and two other ages). Geez, guys, you shouldn't have. Seriously, you shouldn't have.

Going to put my head into the Shrine of St John and just flush.

Glad you made another lap of the sun.

Aww.. scritches for poor Charles. Very lucky to get him to the vet in time!

And awesome workplace that understands the importance of rodent companions.

Well, I got him to the vet but unfortunately he didn't respond to the drugs and had to be put to sleep today. At least I know I did what I could to ease his suffering.

Very sorry to hear that, but I'm sure Charles understood that you cared and that he had a good life.

Our little friends just don't live long enough.

I already have regular colonoscopies, so ignored it. Happy belated birthday, anyway, sorry about the pet loss.
