Saw Batman Begins last night and really enjoyed it. I believe it was also a good movie (this isn't essential for enjoyment, imo) and featured some excellent actors. I don't mind what Liam Neeson is doing on screen and I would've converted to the League of Shadows in a shot if he just asked me once :-)

I don't know too much about the comics so couldn't tell what was canon or not but this didn't matter.

I'm still on a high from seeing it; it was also wonderful to get out and see a lot of sf fans in one place. Makes me wish there was a convention I could get to rsn. This very chilly weather and heavy rain has forced me into rather an isolated box lately so yes, this was a great evening.

I'm also witness to the fact that [livejournal.com profile] llbatt did enjoy the movie - I was standing nearby when he said so!

Yay! I'm looking forward to it. I have to say I mostly enjoy comix turned into movies. You were especially lucky seeing it with an audience of fans. That always adds a lot to the experience.

I saw Electra recently and wished I'd seen it on the big screen. A number of the actors worked really hard to defuse the clichés in the script. I have the highest respect for Jennifer Garner and she earned even more from me with that performance. Colin Cunningham who played McCabe, her offsider, did a remarkable job of turning his rather corny lines into something quite refreshing. I am very impressed with his work. I hope we see more of him in future films, though we probably won't as he isn't a pretty-boy. Kirsten Prout, who played Abbey, the kid, did an excellent job too. Goran Visnjic, who played Abbey's dad, did well too, though he didn't have a lot of room to move in the script. Only Terence Stamp really gave in completely to the corn, which was a pity. Comic book characters don't have to be caricatures.

The photography (Bill Roe) was superb. The lighting, editing, music, and art were all spot-on.
