Rats and sunflowers and Star Wars
It’s been about 10 days since my last confession…er, posting.
I decided to get some friends for Jeremiah, whose cell-mate Henry died on May 15th. Rang my rat-rescuer friends to ask if they still had any of the little males from a recently dumped litter. Yes, says Don, they had all four and he’d been about to take them to a pet shop next day. Their house must be chockers with rodents; pet shops are usually a last resort.
What could I do? Choose between them? Send two off to an unknown fate? Not a chance :-) The cage was big enough and luckily Jeremiah adores them and is settling down as Colony Patriarch and He Who Must Be Obeyed.
The sunflowers and other plants enjoyed all the rain and I now have a six-foot sunflower plant towering over the others. No storm damage here, fortunately, just a fair bit of gardening cleanup.
I saw Star Wars III, of course, like everyone else I know, and enjoyed it better than the last two of the new trilogy, even though it had to end with the survivors bolting down various holes. I wonder, though, if his elders had trusted Anakin more or tried to show that they did, whether he’d have become so bitter and so inclined to listen to the one person who appeared to wholly approve of him?
Court transcription typing’s been pretty quiet lately. This does mean I can do more writing, though it’s a sad truth that the day job pays better than the author gig. I’ve got a book away at the moment, well, half a book – this publisher reads a few chapters at a time! – and a couple of stories. Toes and fingers crossed.
