The weekend ends here
I'm unwell with cramps and headache and usual crap. Knew it was on the way, so didn't arrange to go to the KSP minicon. The good news is that this is not happening on Monday. Have spent more of the morning asleep than usual and now waiting for painkillers to take effect.
This weekend has been pretty good so far. On Friday night I visited
stephen_dedman and
manic_pixie in their new abode, a few minutes walk down the road now. It's a comfortable older house, with polished board floors and recent renovations, plus a spacious back yard for which I know
manic_pixie has plans. Gaming is also planned to happen!
On Saturday I was eloquently persuaded by
leecetheartist to come to WA Board Gaming - not bad since we were text-messaging - and played Nefarious and Devil's Castle (?) which was nothing to do with a castle or the devil and a lot to do with player paranoia. I regret that I was too tired to think much at all during this second game and the fact that other players couldn't guess what side I was on was because my play was completely random, not a cunning plan at all. The fatigue was only because my brain decided this was a work day and woke me up early.
I had to fight my way through hordes of footy fans to get there. My electric bike, Rocket, does weigh quite a bit but unfortunately mowing them down would only have caused further delays. Also the train from here is no longer a through-train to Fremantle, so I had to get off at Perth and get through more mobs of people to reach my second train. Which was full, so Rocket and I had to wait. There was a game at Claremont, same suburb as WABA, so...you guessed it...footy fans all over the road and footpath on the way in. I hoped to avoid them on the way out, since others had said there would be an evening game. Never trust a geek's word on football scheduling, is all I can say to that. The game was letting out as Rocket and I got back to the station around 5pm.
The station was so crowded that we got on the train from town and rode a station down, so we would have a chance to get on the train to town before the mob did. This sort of worked. Turns out there was a second game at Subi (or something causing mobs to get off there) so the first train was still too full when it got to Swanbourne, but we got on the second one, with me apologising like mad every few seconds. Same thing with the second train from town.
There's another game today. I am so not getting on a train, even if my gut was ok, which it isn't. The crowding was as bad as peak hour commuting and that is no exaggeration. What the hell is wrong with the public transport authority? [Rhetorical, rhetorical....]
Warmer weather, at least, which feels good, even if I will have to go and water the broad beans.

btw, mice don't like garlic pepper seasoning. I put some around the back of the DVD ensemble and the pooping there has stopped.
