Decided to actually make an entry :-)

Greetings all

I'm very new to this live journal thingy. My diary is a leatherbound notebook which lives in my drawer. I have no mobile phone. I can remember the age of typewriters. I have had *jobs* in the age of typewriters :-) Hopefully this gives you some idea where I'm coming from!

So what does one write in a Live Journal? First, I suppose, that I am an author who now and then gets paid for it and also a gardener. I will cheerfully carry on about my sunflowers etc as long as anyone will listen, since it's not so long since I moved from a flat to a house and am still not over it.

I have five pet rats who rule the house and let me out one night a week on average. It's ok if I work on computer so long as I keep the snacks coming.

I know I'm a dinosaur but I'm trying. Very trying, as friends will say.

Welcomne to the world of lj. Write about your rats and garden, and rant about your family. If people don't want to read, they'll just skip over it. You could put some of your fannish writing up here too. That would be cool.

Drop around and I'll teach the little bit of coding you need to know to do things like type [livejournal.com profile] ratfan and [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor.

Thanks!

Welcome to lj, Sue. :o)
It's great that you finally joined the family.

(And now I won't have to bother Veronica for the newest gossip on you anymore. ;o) )

Greetings everyone, good to see you

drhyde, what do you mean "gossip about me?" :-) I'm hard put to think of anything really interesting I've done lately to merit gossip. Though I suppose among fans, being a fanatic gardener is weird enough.

My sunflowers (23, count them) are now approaching 4 feet in height but still they're not safe! They are under attack from 'wildefuzz' (any wild rodent). I can't think of anything else that might take a large chomp out of the flowers as well as carefully breaking open the sunflower seeds. A workmate suggested putting bells on the plants, which sounds demented but might actually work since rats and mice are very sensitive to sound. It's not like I can actually hurt a rat!

chaosmanor suggested putting up some of my fanfic here, which I'll think about when I figure out how. As well as being a pro writer, I've also written some Babylon 5 fanfic for my own entertainment and that of friends - it's ok, muffinmonster, you can talk about it! So some of that might come here.

I've been at work for 3 days solid doing a lot of computer work. Supposedly I'm part-time but my workplace has a habit of going pear-shaped every so often and wanting us to move in and set up hammocks in the office or something. Oh well, I can always use the money to eat and stuff like that!

Hi Sue. [waves frantically] :)
Might be possums attacking the sunflowers.

I'm glad you've got an LJ account. :)
