Federal election today.

Given all the talk about how many people were voting early or by post, I did not expect voting on the day to take as long as it did.  The Bassendean polling place was chockers so I don't think too many locals went early.  Everybody wanted a Democracy sausage  [hot dog!]  I lined up for maybe half an hour;  did wear the mask as distancing was impossible and I heard the words "super spreader" being mentioned around the place.

Onions had already run out and I started to get worried in that line as I heard talk of the diminishing snaggers.  "One left!"  I was next!   How's that for timing?   I then exited quickly before the mob behind me realised what had happened.

Now having a cuppa and gathering strength before I go do the food shop.  Gods, I wish I had the e-bike still.

Oh, the election?   We won't know anything until after 6pm in the eastern states when the first polls close.  In some elections it has been called before Western Australia has even finished voting, which tended to make us very cross and feeling left out.  Aha, but this time we matter and they will be anxiously waiting for us.  Won't help you, Scott, you useless bastard.

There weren't too many party staffers at this booth.  A couple of Greens, a Liberal, a Labor and one bloke from the Australian Federation Party waffling about freedom.  We used our freedom to ignore him along with most of the others, except the Greens whom I assured would get my vote.  This is the safest of safe Labor seats, meaning none of the politicians showed any interest in us for the whole campaign.
