Caps on Pride Parade numbers
Nov. 29th, 2019 08:27 pmOk, I'm not the most social individual and anyone reading my blog knows I have trouble with depression. This, though......
https://www.outinperth.com/confusion-as-pride-limits-the-number-of-parade-marchers/
It's Friday night and I'm tired; didn't have a great day at work and it's not going to be much of a weekend.
The agent wanted to bring somebody to view this place on Wednesday so I let them [having read the law on how often I have to] but told them I was going to be around. It was not a good experience but geez, I did not want to go wandering around for half an hour in the heat either. So still getting over that.
Thursday the thing about the march happened. A lot of folk heard it for the first time last night, three days out from the event. I don't find it an easy thing to deal with those crowds and now with a distinct "not welcome" feeling, I don't really have the will to do it. And the transfolk got about a fifth of the "permits" they needed. That's in the article; don't just take it from me. I don't know if it's really enemy action or just chaotic incompetence, but I really don't like this idea of not letting people show up and march if they want to. Or of letting corporate floats take the places that should go to community groups.
Tired.
Then this, necessitating an update:
