I guess I've officially started house-hunting now, though I have at least a month to do it in, probably longer.  I've sent applications to go see three places in early January, one very close, the other two in a neighbouring suburb.  Checked out a fourth place, whose address is on the street that crosses mine and when I rode around there, found that it's the house right behind me.  You couldn't have recognised it from the description;  they said nothing about their insane jungle of a back yard.

It's as old as this house, maybe older [80 years plus], judging by the presence of a backyard dunny.  This is where Angelina the chook and the rest of her clan lived before they moved to find somewhere a bit larger.  I thought about it for about five minutes but no;  don't want to be that close to ex-landlord and her obnoxious dog, better have a bit more space than a back fence.  They've let the place go a lot since Angelina and Co lived there.

Yes, I know I regard most dogs as varying degrees of obnoxious, mostly based on the behaviour of the ones around here, but this one is full on psychotic, genuinely dangerous, and landlord doesn't help by discussing its psychological problems, of which it has a boatload.  I'm more concerned about the large teeth and readiness to use them.

One of the places looks really good, and one reason is it's in an over 55s complex and mentions a long lease and a quiet environment.  Looks like paradise :-)    I think the agents are choosy, because it's been on the market since November and they've set up about 10 viewing days to select from.

I'm not really in holiday mode yet, since I have to work tomorrow and on Monday, the 31st, but that's it.  Did consider going out on New Year's but I doubt I'll feel like it.
