technology broke my brain
Apr. 5th, 2014 09:13 pmI was messing with my mobile phone to see if I could work out how to leave a welcome message on it and somehow got the idea that turning Voicemail on would help.
I didn't realise for some time that the phone must be diverting everything, not just when I didn't pick up! I know this because I've had the phone constantly with me, since M is in hospital! Optus site was down so couldn't get help there to disable the VM. Finally found a site with a long list of messages from folk discussing the same problem. One had posted a simple code you entered on your phone to disable diverts. Bang. At least, I think it's bang. It worked when I called the mobile from my landline.
Does Optus do this kind of thing on purpose to bamboozle their less tech-savvy customers?
Btw, no probs re M and hospital because I've been going in there almost every day anyway, but it's been a pain to figure out, since tech is not really my thing. I thought M had misdialled until I checked the number she had and got her to call the mobile while I was there with it. So if anyone's been trying to call me (I don't really think so since nearly everyone I know emails) that's why. If you still can't message me, then I haven't figured it out as well as I think!
