Hot

I'm sure I used to be better at enduring heat. I'm certainly not used to dealing with it all day as I used to be before I had airconditioning. Well, since the living room/rat room had aircon. Yesterday I made it to a boardgaming event, Broncon, which is a small private gathering of gamers at Bronny and Tim's house. I hadn't gone on Saturday because of losing Albert and Joey on Friday and being worried that someone else might follow.

Catching up with people was excellent, as was playing several games - Ticket to Ride (Europe), Survive (the flooding of Atlantis, which we mostly didn't), Ticket to Ride (Africa)- and enjoying tasty waffles with maple syrup and bacon, then guacamole-drenched spicy tacos. Unfortunately the temperature rose to almost 36^C and even with sun-blocking curtains and fan, one's brain slowed to troll standard. I think it was Terry Pratchett who wrote that the way trolls think is the same way the rest of us do when the temperature is up to 40^C. So perhaps it was the need to think which was the problem? Bronny and Tim have a vast collection of games, some I'd never seen before such as Miskatonic Girls' School (?) and Cults Across America, which I would like to check out at some time when I am more sentient.

The heat and the lack of a siesta made me sleep very well last night, which hasn't been usual for awhile. Today, no plans beyond watering the garden at some point and getting Albert and Joey's memorial plants for the garden bed. The rats are doing okay, settling down for the day's snooze. Sounds like a plan.
