Brai- (coughing) ainns
Dec. 7th, 2013 11:36 amI'm no longer contagious, despite what the folk at work think [shambling, wheezing, coughing when I try to talk]. My supervisor has me under "zombie watch," checking off symptoms.
Flu moved into bronchitis. I haven't been able to lie down flat to sleep for over a week and this reminds me somewhat of a neverending international plane flight. Only good thing is this got me off the work Christmas party, because nobody wanted to get close enough to hassle me any more into going. If they try to put on last minute pressure, I can always have a relapse. Seriously, these events are no fun to me. I know I complain about not going out or seeing people, but I'm selective about which people. Some of my workmates are ok but really, the office is enough, and I'm not into alcohol or small talk. Or mobs.
Two more weeks until I'm on leave. I promised myself this would be a "slack" year. Slack in the sense of extra holidays (the long service leave) if not in the sense of any letup at work. I'm hoping to at least be able to progress a story I'm working on, if nothing else.
I'm hoping to make it to the boardgaming weekend at the end of this month. Won't stay overnight as I expect to still be coughing. Also I will have two ratty guests. I usually seem to have boarders over this period. For the rest of it, well, hopefully I will have a chance to catch up with some friends, maybe go out to dinner once or twice, play some games. Wild social activity. I'm also planning to put an order in to Book Depository.
I'll see some of you later, I hope, or at least chat online.
