My tadpole population, donated by
leecetheartist and rarely seen after they were tipped into the pond (some time ago!) has now produced one froglet. I also saw a larger frog, who could be the "old frog" from last season; I'm not sure. It was not very large but the froglet was miniscule; it could have perched on my thumb and had bright green stripes down its back, being a Motorcycle froglet. It also needs to show more caution at this very dangerous stage of its life, as I discovered when I was able to prod it gently into better cover. It seems to be just getting used to this whole living on land/breathing air thing. Hopefully there are more survivors, or will be more, from the original 20-30 tads.
On the subject of wildlife; I'm about to tip some crocodiles into a future Swan River, which is now warm enough to be a comfortable habitat for them. Would anyone like to be a throwaway character in my current hopefully-novel and get eaten? This is not to say I don't use names of people I know anyway, but if I don't have permission I change them before publication. [EDIT: Relax, this last sentence was joke. All I mean is; in early drafts, I'll use whatever name comes to mind, then change it when I've got more time to think. Most often the characters get temporarily named after the author of whatever book I can see at the time!]
