Day 2: Mental Health Time Off
Aug. 2nd, 2012 07:03 pmYesterday afternoon I did my tax return. I believe the right numbers went into the right slots, but we will see. It was a relief to get it out of the way.
This morning I woke with a mild headache, stiffness and feeling of unwellness. I hope it goes away. I've planned to meet friends for lunch tomorrow but today there's just the trip over to Subi to fetch Griffin's pills. This morning was a case of, "I'm out of bed and dressed; what more do you want?"
The fuzzy unwellness persisted to Subi, where I visited Elizabeth's bookshop (hm, prices have gone up noticeably) and then felt more unwell when I heard somebody ask for Fifty Shades of Bleh at the counter and then leave when the goth in charge said they didn't have it. I saw several Bradburys on the shelves and recalled that though I'd read Fahrenheit 451 a long time ago, I didn't own a copy and this was a nice, new-looking one with a 2003 intro by Bradbury. So I bought it in the interests of helping to keep one more actual bookshop alive and well. It seemed fitting, somehow.
I decided that the fuzziness could be iron deficiency once again. This creeps up on me every so often when I forget to eat properly for awhile. My iron levels are naturally very low; it doesn't take much. So, into town and to Grind, an all-day breakfast cafe that I know. I usually can't eat their entire Big Breakfast, which is everything - bacon, eggs, toast, mushrooms, tomato and hash browns, plus English Breakfast tea - but I managed to inhale this one. Went home and to bed for a few hours and feel rather better now.
It is a Rat Room service night tonight.
