This morning I got up at 6 o'clock on a non-work day. I had promised to attend work's Christmas breakfast at Miss Maud's in the city. It's breakfast because a court transcription company can't abandon the building during the day. The lure of free food was enough and it was pretty excellent. Bacon, eggs, hash browns, (unknown stuff but tasted good), sausage, pancakes, cream, strawberries, fruit and yoghurt. Not all on the same plate; there wasn't room.

Following this, I decided to get my Christmas gifting responsibilities out of the way. This mostly means my nephews and a bit of international card-posting. Since my nephews were born, I've discovered that all the cool toys happen after you are three. Before that, you are apparently more likely to try to eat/destroy it. So I got them pjs with Spiderman and Ben 10 respectively - for Messrs Two and Five. It's actually quite frustrating, because they're over in South Australia so I'm guessing sizes. I was generous about that because I know the younger one is humungous, so if you get a size 2 because he's two, won't work! Just like his dad at that age. I'm one of the only two people around who are going to remember that, btw. Yes, I could have got the five-year-old something more cool, but by that stage I only wanted to finish shopping and leave before my head combusted.

My brother and sister-in-law are not great with the feedback and it's very hard to know if the kids actually liked the gifts. Frustration overload here. I guess I'll have to wait until the nephews reach sentient age and can give me an idea themselves of what they like.

Anyway, I got that done, wrapped, packed and sent, and the two US cards have gone today as well. Their recipients won't fuss if I *don't* make it by Christmas Day, I know, but I tried!

Mum's sorted out - thank the gods she actually came up with the idea of not exchanging gifts herself. It would never have worked if I'd said it. Also, her birthday is January 4, so she doesn't miss out for long.

As for friends, well, you'll have to settle for my general appreciation, whether I know you in RL or here online. I have had to cut down bigtime on what I spend (mostly because of the power bill increase) and I am saving for Swancon.
