The Rats Series 1: Charles Wallace Investigates

This is my wonky rat, Charles Wallace. I'm trying out doing things with pictures, so bear with me. I'd prefer a larger picture if I can work out how. He's wonky because he has a head tilt, thanks to an infection caused by a fight in his younger days. He's been the recipient of some quite expensive drugs in his time too.

CW is about 21 months old, making him middle-aged to senior. He was surrendered to Perth Rat Rescue with his two brothers when only little, believed to be from a backyard breeder but no one was really sure. We were only relieved to get the guys to safety.

CW is also something of a homebody. He loves being cuddled, but would prefer that I stand by the Ferret Kingdom (the rats' humungous home) while I do it. Otherwise the tension of it all gets too much and he'll leap free and head for safety.

These pictures were only obtained by cutting off the rats' retreat.
