I've scrabbled back up to Nano quota this Sunday and slightly above so yeah, still here. Thursday and Friday were just like Monday and Tuesday so today has been a major catchup, interspersed with Gardening Stuff so muscles got a chance to rest before going to work tomorrow or at least be used in different ways than crouched before keyboard.

Hopefully this coming week won't be so insane. The Fed Court have finished the matter they squeezed down into five days from eight, thus explaining the overtime *we* had to do. Everyone in the office went a bit strange by Friday, which was also a workmate's 60th so we OD'd on cake as well.

I'm managing to write okay, the time off is being taken from simple fatigue. I also realise I will need to go back over it and find out certain things, like the layout of Parliament House. Of course, the PH I am writing about is in the future but I'm not changing much because I doubt they will :-) I'm going from schoolday memories when we toured the place and more information gleaned when we transcribed a lot of Hansard one time. Also, [livejournal.com profile] buoy_wonder, I have killed you off in the novel. I needed a name for a minor politician who showed how the brainwashed killer worked and you got to be him, at least in this draft.

The Rodent Sleepover Club have been here since Thursday night; this is Don and Lena's eight rats, one rabbit and two manx mice, Stinky and Poo. The event you never want to see happened and one of the rats was ill. He hasn't died but he wasn't too good. I called Lena and she came back from Collie early to collect him and rush him to the vet.

It's Bring Out Your Dead Day here on the 20th, meaning all the residents pile an amazing amount of crap on the verges for collection. If you weren't too fussy, you could furnish an entire house from what's available. Furniture, mattresses, bed frames, a dresser with mirror (somebody took the mirror), microwaves, tables, fridges. I searched the piles but no bookcases. I did find a tyre to grow potatoes in and see how that compares with the usual pile-up-the-earth method, plus some metal lattice things for my beans to grow on.

My minnows showed up for their weekly feeding. They aren't doing much to keep down the pond's algae but they look healthy! No sign of any frogs now, sadly. I don't know if the one I had resident found a mate or what happened but he has fallen silent.
