Life Signs
Aug. 9th, 2008 12:56 pmThis is my "I'm alive but only just" post. I'm in the wrecked state traditional for this time of a Worldcon. Mostly having a good time; have found several books I was after and bought T-shirts for the rats to chew when I get home.
Most of what
satyapriya has been saying is true; will elucidate when I get home and have a working brain once more. She paid for today's breakfast with geisha money, for example.
I'm now catching up with online stuff while I wait for room service to do their thing before I try to have a nap. "Try" being the operative word; we are way too close to the Crowne Plaza's noisy elevator which is apparently a known problem to everyone but me when I was doing my booking. I intend to make this public far and wide; they have not made a friend here.
Went to the Masquerade last night which was something of a disappointment for a Worldcon; way too heavy on the fairy princesses who pranced on stage and pranced off. You know, the Galadriel with the best cleavage? I saw hall costumes around the place which were way better, e.g. the bloke with the black leather kilt. Don't know what he'd have called his costume but I would have voted for it.
Everyone will probably know Melbourne has won the 2010 - hey, we knew that, right? - and I'll be bound for there in two years unless I have a sudden outbreak of common sense.
take care, back next week
