Zombie And Other News

I'm going to have a story in Zombie World News :-) Quite pleased about that. I suddenly thought zombies and the Queensland floods made a quite convincing combination :-) You can't see them coming when there's a couple of metres of brown swirling water covering the streets of your town.

Bloody hot today again. Since I expect that to be the norm for a couple of months, I'll probably stop saying that but it can be assumed.

I spent today at home doing a cleanup after visiting creatures were collected. House is now clean. I even ironed and moved washing machine and fridge to clean beneath, which is a fit that strikes only occasionally and usually in hot conditions. Tonight I'll tackle the Ferret Kingdoms. There was gaming happening but I decided to wimp out, take care of the above tasks and keep an eye on Wilfred, my third rat to take sick in a matter of weeks. Sigh. He was up and about the cage today, so I am very much hoping that the mass recently found by the vet in his abdomen is an abscess, which will respond to cortico steroids, rather than a tumour, which won't. Wilfred isn't eating much but at least there's some hope at the moment.

There's a genetic component which we, the folks involved with Perth Rat Rescue rats, are only now figuring out, having experienced five cases from a population of rats rescued from a hoarder. These rats all had masses in the abdomen, of which three were tumours and two abscesses, if I have it correct. So Wilfred has possible family members with the condition, including my own Cecil. Please be lucky, Wilf.

Anyway, though it's still 36^C outside, things need watering!

good news re story, I hope your ratties are well too :/

if you have any questions about last session, or journal entries to post, feel free. You can even post to the Yog forums, if you like - quotes and plot are up there too

Do you mean you'd like me to post the Amy Wells journal stuff direct to Yog?

[identity profile] drhoz.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
If you want to :)

Ok. I've started a blog in Yog-S where I'll be putting the journal stuff that isn't already there.

The heading is:

Journal of Amy Wells: Investigator in the Gamers Guild campaign.

There's a bit at the start telling people they should read your blog because Amy may not have got everything completely correct. :-) She also may choose not to write down certain things.

That was

It's 33 here today. F. There is also Cold White Stuff on the ground.

All tentacles crossed for Wilfred!!!

33^F, let's look, geez, that's barely over 0^C. At what time of day does Winchester CO achieve that, btw?

Wilfred isn't eating much, mostly soy formula mixed with water, yoghurt and a bit of baby food custard. That's the problem with rats, they're sick, they don't want to eat and if you force them, which I tried to do last night, they become distressed.

I'm doing the best I can (sigh), offering him the soft foods frequently and keeping him in a quiet environment, sort of. He's got Cedric for company and Cedric is not a bully. He does get the neighbours running over the roof and screeching, but that's not too bad.

I really didn't need this again so soon though. I have three more rats from that place so now I have to be concerned about them. So far, Cedric, Vernon and Elliott appear to be bulletproof, which is hopeful.

33 F? High noon!!!!! And it's actually Westminster, BTW. A different English name for a Western town . . .

[identity profile] ratfan.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Westminster, sorry. Didn't look it up and just wrote what came to mind. :-) Eek, so that's actually the maximum temp for that day? That happens here sometimes...predawn, midwinter.
