It was recently that I read the quote, and I'm usually not bad at remembering books, so I'm claiming a senior moment. Didn't remember the Old Testament as being quite that cynical, but it is. "You asked for him, now you've got him, so suck it up!" I noted that the book after Samuel is the Book of Kings!
