Some updates

RIP Esmond 23.5.2004 - 11.2.2006

My little fuzzy rat Esmond died of congestive heart failure about 2am this morning. He was Vincent's litter brother and this was exactly the same problem. Knowing that wasn't a damn bit of help.

I'm now very afraid for Percy, the last brother, though he was checked out at the vet yesterday as well and was deemed to need only an antibiotic, not the heart drugs which are heavy duty stuff. He's taking things much better than I am. If I had lost two siblings in rapid succession I think I would be in the foetal position in bed for a few weeks.

Note to [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor and [livejournal.com profile] delicious_irony: the lemon tree is taking its time. There are quite a lot of nearly ripe lemons but my estimate of how long they'd take is evidently way out. I'll let you know! At the moment probably only half a dozen or so are at picking stage. With the higher ones I have to wait till they hit the ground as they're too high for me to get to.

[livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor; would you be able to help me give Percy mites shots again if he needs them? The vet wants to hold off for now but he might need them later. Percy, as you might remember, eeks piteously at any provocation or none. The vet has been known to assure me that he hasn't actually done anything to him yet...

Note to [livejournal.com profile] muffinmonster and [livejournal.com profile] drhyde; I hope you got my mail thanking you for the delicious package which arrived last week. Unfortunately I am now addicted to those biscuits...!

*hugs*

I know it doesn't help much, but remember that you've provided Esmond and Vincent with a loving home, and made their lives that much better.

:( about Esmond. It's terrible to lose a loved one. Will you be okay?

Thanks for the update about the lemons. I'm looking forward to once again making lemonade cordial. It's a great arm workout and makes a yummy product.

Fluffy hugs to Percy! And what biscuits are these...?:)

I know. I spoiled them rotten; part of the problem as they were overweight. There was also a congenital problem, I think, because they had the same diet all my rats have had. You remember Jeremiah, my geriatric? Still going strong and he has to be 10-12 months older than the trio. Okay, so he has to stay on the Baytril so he doesn't have another attack but even with that, he's awesome.

The trio were born to a rescue rat in this very house.

Thanks again

Yes, thanks, I will be okay. Very sad at the moment, as always when I lose one of these little creatures but should be with it again in a couple of days.

It helps to have young rats around because they are so full of energy and will not understand that you can actually only pick one up at once and that they have to get *off* the cage door so that you can open it.

The aforementioned biscuits are some delicious gingery biscuits with a long German name which I will have to ask my friends to remind me because I don't have the packet any more :-) They were sent me as a Christmas present, unfortunately by surface mail but this didn't hurt them. I first encountered them when I visited my friends in Germany and my god, they are moreish!

thanks again

Sue

Greetings

I now have needles with stuff in them and unsuspecting, mites-infested rodent all ready for jabbing. When would be a good time?
