My television just exploded....

Ten minutes into the news, I was wandering about, heard a bursting sort of noise and went into the room to see a black screen and smell burning. It's from the tv itself. The power point is fine; I tested it with another appliance and stood back...no problem. The cables haven't been gnawed which is something you always check when you're a rat owner. I thought they might have added a television to their electronic scalps which include two telephones.

Said tv is 16 so most likely out of its warranty... Ack.

Whatcha think? Attempt to repair or upgrade?
