Potted

It's been a while since I posted. Today I went outside. I rode three kilometres on Rocket the e-bike to Better Pets and Gardens for a sack of potting mix and a couple of plants. This mission was to improve a couple of the hanging pots and give one of my "immigrants" a better home, albeit a temporary one because I think it will grow a little. I also wanted something to take to work to be able to look at and hopefully improve my morale. In fact, gardening as a whole helps with that.

This jacaranda is about two inches (or 7.5 centimetres) tall and the largest leaves are about that wide. It moved into a hanging pot and while doing well up to now, that's probably not the best location for even the most enterprising seedling. I'm hoping I can eventually bonsai it, after it gets a bit larger and more durable.

The skinny, snakelike plant here is a grevillea; I forget what variety but it is native to the Bassendean area and the council do a residents sale each year with a variety of tube stock. Since I'm expecting to move in a year - 2 years time, pots are my gardening containers of choice right now. I topped up a few other pots and also potted up some purple and white petunias for the hanging pot that used to have the jacaranda. Why, yes, insofar as I pay any attention at all, I am a Dockers fan :-) There's a couple of them in with the grevillea as well.

The dracaena or dragon tree is the one I'm taking to the office, since it supposedly can handle indoors conditions for a while, and I'm next to a window so there should be enough sun. I discovered the other day that my work position is known as "the fort" since when we moved in, I kidnapped several partitions left over and lying around unguarded. But my other wall is a rather nice window. If anyone is interested (or probably even if no one strenuously objects) I'll post a picture of my fort.

So how is the ratfan's morale? It comes and it goes, to be honest. Going back to work wasn't good, especially since I was still sick from my cold so did not feel at all rested. It's like going back into a trap. Friends have helped - you know who you are! - and I have done some more organising for plans I have later this year. As a writer, I'm still on sabbatical. I'm sorry about that, but I need a break, for the sake of my mental well-being. This doesn't include fanfiction, which I have been writing for fun and to keep my hand in. I'm back big time on Facebook because of several groups I wanted to be in, though I didn't stay in the gardeners one. Facebook, like all other social media, is a realm of social upheavals and emotional volcanoes erupting, but I didn't expect it to be the gardeners who went postal, over what I thought was a fairly reasonable post (not mine) about bee control. Tumbir is flat out insane from time to time, but I stay out of the politics and just appreciate the Supernatural-themed blogs :-)

RPG game is happening! We are in an alternate England where an asteroid fell some 15 years ago; there to scrounge and see what there is that might benefit our timeline.

If anyone wants to ask me something, feel free. I don't talk about certain things even on a friends-locked journal, but am ok about a one to one private chat, for example.
